How to Make Personalized Cakesicles with Turtles

How to Make Personalized Cakesicles with Turtles

The last week before Christmas is always a hectic time for everyone! Getting the last of the gifts wrapped, menu planning for the big day and making sure you get everything juuust perfect. I love the holidays as it’s the season of gifting and the time to slow down and just share moments with your friends and family.

One of my favourite things I love to gift my friends and family for Christmas are ornaments and baked goods. Ornaments for one because there are millions you can choose from. But when you find that perfect one that just screams the person you’re giving it too, I just love it.

The other gift I looove giving are cookies and treats! I mean, aren’t the holidays here so that we can indulge in all the chocolate, candy and baked goodies?! This year, I wanted to make something super special for my friends and family.. so I’m making these Personalized Cakesicles stuffed with decadent Turtles Chocolates

I’m a sucker for anything with my name on it and I don’t know anyone who would refuse a personalized treat! This year’s Turtle’s Holiday Chocolate Box there are three flavours, Classic, Dark Chocolate and my favourite, Salted Caramel! Okay, I’m actually drooling. This is a super easy DIY, you don’t even have to bake the cake yourself! I picked up a chocolate and vanilla cake, moulded them into circles or rectangles and dipped them in coloured candy melts!

What you’ll need:

  • Turtles Chocolates
  • Store-bought chocolate and/or vanilla cake
  • Bittersweet chocolate and/or white chocolate chips
  • Candy melts
  • Popsicles
  • Piping bag
  • Sprinkles for decorating

Start with store-bought chocolate and/or vanilla cake and with your hands, crumble them into small pieces, you’ll need about 2 cups of cake crumbs. In another bowl, microwave 1/3 cup of chocolate chips, in 30 second increments, so that you don’t burn the chocolate. Pour the chocolate into the cake crumbs and mix until it comes together and feels like playdoh.

Take a popsicle stick and push it through one of the Turtles. Depending on how big you want to make your cakesicle, you can have 2 per popsicle stick. Place them on parchment paper and stick them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. In the mean time, melt the candy melts in the microwave, in 30 second increments making sure to stir after every burst.

Transfer the chocolate into a taller glass/jar and dip away! I dipped them twice to make sure they get an even coating. You may need to stick the candy melts back into the microwave if it cools down too quickly. Set the cakesicles aside or in the fridge to set.

Now for the fun part! Decorate them however your heart desires! I used coloured candy melts and drew wreaths and you can even personalize it with your friends/family member’s names!
