29 Jan How to Host a Winning Super Bowl Party
If you know me, you know that I’m a homebody. I love going out for nice dinners and checking out cool restaurants in the city but there’s nothing that gives me more comfort than being at home. I do love hosting though! I love having our friends and family over for dinner, nothing fancy, all we need is good food and good company and we are happy! I use to find hosting parties to be exhausting but after my last holiday party, I am taking my own advice to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with my favourite people!
With the Super Bowl only a few days away I invited some of our friends to come over and watch the game. I wanted to keep with hosting a stress-free party so that I can enjoy more time with my guests. So I am serving the ultimate game day snack – nachos. It’s low maintenance, delicious and who doesn’t love nachos?! I thought it would be fun to create a DIY Nacho bar and have everyone to create their own nachos with whatever chips, dips and toppings they want.
Are you guys ready to #DownSetSabra?
I decided to put together this mean DIY nachos spread. I wanted to shake things up and do Mediterranean nachos. What are Mediterranean nachos you ask? Soft or baked pita chips, juicy Greek meatballs, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, tzatziki, olives and the BEST part, a lots and lots of Sabra hummus. My favourite is the caramelized onion hummus with smoked paprika. And on the other side, I’m offering the traditional fixings for nachos including tortilla chips, ground beef, cheddar cheese and you can’t have nachos without Sabra’s guacamole.
Here’s how you can make your own DIY nacho bar!
For the Mediterranean Nacho Bar, the ingredients I used were:
- Baked pita chips
- Fresh and grilled pita bread, cut into triangles
- Greek meatballs
- Red onion, diced
- Cherry tomatoes, halved
- Cucumbers, sliced
- Roasted red pepper
- Spiced olives
- Feta cheese
- And Sabra’s many selections of delicious and creamy Hummus
This is such a fun twist on traditional nachos! I love the fresh pita triangles with LOTS of the caramelized onion hummus with paprika, a dollop of tzatziki, some fresh veggies for crunch and a sprinkle of feta cheese. I am definitely a dip and sauce kind of girl.. and the more, the better. I love the creaminess of the hummus and not to mention, healthy! Sabra has over 10 different hummus flavours including roasted red pepper, olive tapenade and a time-limited Taco Fiesta, created to celebrate Sabra as the Official dip for the NFL.
The ingredients for the Traditional DIY Nacho Bar included:
- Ground beef with taco seasoning
- Grated double cheddar cheese
- Sabra’s Homestyle Salsa
- Greek Yogurt (in place of sour cream)
- Fresh jalapeños
- And the BEST part, Sabra’s Classic Guacamole
All the ingredients for the traditional nachos were super easy to put together especially Sabra’s guacamole. All you have to do it pop the lid and serve. Literally the best thing since sliced bread haha. To be honest, the thought of making guacamole is such a hassle in my mind. Trying to find ripe avocados, which are impossible to find in the grocery store, which means you have to wait a few days for them to ripen. Sabra’s guacamole is fresh, chunky like the homemade stuff and made with Mexico with Hass avocados. I’m just happy I never have to make guacamole from scratch again.
Hosting parties doesn’t need to be as exhausting as it seems. Let Sabra help you with your next one. You can pick up ready-made healthy dips like Sabra’s hummus and guacamole so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time watching the game with your friends.
