I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day! A holiday that celebrates love with anyone and everyone. Not to mention, the world is painted with all shades of pinks and red, count me in! Valentine’s Day used to be this weird day that made you feel a little lonely if you were single. Before I met Taylor, I never really celebrated with that special someone, I actually celebrated with a few special people, my girlfriends! If you didn’t know, February 13th is the unofficial–official Galentine’s Day!
There are so many ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day. You could host a potluck party and have everyone bring their favourite dishes, have a baking date to make all your favourite Valentine treats, host a movie night and watch all Rom Coms that make you want to laugh and cry, have a mini spa date at home with face masks, manicure and pedicures ALL while sipping on a delicious Galentine’s Day inspired cocktail.
In celebration, I’m making a cocktail (slash dessert) all your girlfriends will LOVE! These Espresso Chocolate Martinis are made with creamy Green & Black’s Sea Salt Milk Chocolate, Baileys, Patron Café and of course, espresso! I love the hint of sea salt, it helps to round out all the flavours in this cocktail.
Green & Black’s chocolate is the world’s leading premium organic AND Fair Trade chocolate! They offer so many different flavours from Sea Salt Milk Chocolate to Burnt Toffee Dark Chocolate and they even have an 85% Dark Chocolate! The chocolate is super creamy, it literally melts in your mouth.
What you’ll need:
- Green & Black’s Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Bar (x2)
- Whole milk
- Green & Black’s 85% Dark Chocolate (x1)
- Irish Cream Liqueur
- Coffee Liqueur
- Valentine’s sprinkles
You will have to prep the chocolate sauce beforehand but it’s super easy to make and even great for dipping strawberries in. Heat up some whole milk on the stove until it’s hot but not boiling. Take the saucepan off the stove, break up the milk chocolate bars and let sit for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes are up, give the mixture a good little whisk and it’s done! You’ll need 1 ounce of chocolate sauce per cocktail.
‘To make this cocktail a fun and colourful, I rimmed the glasses with Valentines sprinkle’s. Who doesn’t love sprinkles? To rim the glasses, melt the Green & Black’s Dark Chocolate and transfer to a plate to slightly cool. Pop your glasses in the freezer for about 5 minutes, this way the chocolate will set quicker and the sprinkles will stay put.
How to Make an Espresso Martini
- 2 bars Green & Blacks Sea Salt Milk Chocolate
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 oz Irish Cream Liqueur
- 1 oz Coffee Liqeur
- 1 oz Milk Chocolate Sauce
- 1 shot espresso
In a small saucepan, heat the milk on medium-high until warm (not boiling). Take off the heat. Break up the chocolate bars into the milk and let sit for 5 minutes. Whisk until all the chocolate bits have mixed into the milk.
In a shaker filled with ice, add the Irish Cream, coffee liqueur, milk chocolate sauce and espresso. Put the lid on a shake for 5-10 seconds. Strain into a rimmed glass and enjoy!
