2017 seems like forever ago even though it’s only just passed. It’s been about two months since I left my job to pursue my dreams full-time. It’s scary to think that I’m my own boss, photographer, editor and biggest critic. Having only fallen into this role less than a year ago, it seems like so much has happened since. I’ve met so many amazing people on this journey and most importantly learned so much about myself. If you had asked me two years ago where I thought I would be today or what I would be doing, being a content creator would not be on the list of careers I would be pursuing. The last two months have been challenging, to say the least, and liberating to know that I get to do what I love.
I am a firm believer that you should celebrate milestones. Growing up, my parents would buy each other gifts to mark milestones in their life including job promotions, a new house, 5-10-15 year wedding anniversaries. It’s important to recognize and celebrate to remind yourself of how far you’ve come and it also helps to motivate you to continue. When my parents reached their 15 year anniversary, they purchased these beautiful matching watches to commemorate the life they’ve built and they still wear their matching watches to this day!
Getting married, moving into our first apartment together, finding my passion in life and getting the job of my dreams are just some of the milestones I’ve celebrated in my life. I think we have a lot to celebrate in our lives, it doesn’t necessarily need to be marriage or career-driven, although most are. It could be traveling solo for the first time, losing that last 10 lbs, buying your first car, whatever the case maybe, you should always celebrate.
This milestone for me is a big one. In my twenties, I struggled a lot with trying to find my passion, finding a job that resonated with me, one that I loved and was actually good at. After almost a decade of soul-searching and lessons learned, I finally found it. I left my perfectly good job in November and it was one of the best decisions I made in 2017. I wanted to mark this moment with a beautiful timepiece.
OMEGA is one of the leading brands for luxury men’s and women’s watches with their in-house movements, beautiful designs and rich history. OMEGA was the first watch to be worn on the moon, the first chronograph watch used to keep time at the Olympics and continues to be James Bond’s favourite watch brand! What’s not to love?
My husband, Taylor, is a big fan of watches and has started a pretty nice collection for himself. For me, I had never found one that I really loved, that felt great on the wrist, that feels like me, until now. My OMEGA Seamaster Aquaterra is a steel watch with a white mother-of-pearl dial. I love the sleek and elegant design of the watch, it’s perfect for dressing up and can also be worn casually for everyday. I love the perfect, little diamonds on the dial that make it just special enough!
There are so many factors to consider when you’re looking to invest in a luxury watch but at the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference so choose what feels right to you. But remember to celebrate not just the highs but also the lows in your life.
I wear my watch everyday and every time I look down at it, it reminds me of everything I’ve achieved last year and all the things I want to achieve this year. It’s something that is very special to me, a beautifully-made watch that’s a constant reminder to keep doing what I’m doing.
I want to thank everyone who has come along with me on my journey this past year. All your kind words, wishes and support means the world to me. Its been a crazy but amazing year and I can’t wait for what 2018 brings!
What are some of the milestones you’ve celebrated in your life? I’d love to know! Share them in the comments x
